The R.J. FORGRAVE MEMORIAL TROPHY is awarded to the winner of ninth E Championship race of the season. The trophy was donated in 2015 by Rob’s immediate family

The BOB GERRITY MEMORIAL TROPHY is annual golf championship trophy for lowest net score donated in 2012 by the Nordberg family.

The UNGER CHALLENGE TROPHY is an annual race for “E’s” held each year on July 4th. The course is called by Jack Unger, Jr. This race began in 1961.

The MOLBY CHALLENGE TROPHY is awarded to the winner of three short races for “E’s” held over one weekend. It was donated as a perpetual trophy in 1959 by Lloyd Molby.

The PIONEER TROPHIES are perpetual trophies awarded for Butterfly and “E” competition. The trophies are in honor of the original Pioneer Sailors who founded the Club in 1928. The series started on our 35th anniversary in 1963.

The LYNN CHALLENGE TROPHIES are awarded to the winners of “E” and Butterfly classes for a race sailed in August. The “E” race is started at the Club, sailed to a mark near Clam River, then finished at the Club. Although it is a competitive trophy, a skipper winning the “E” race in three consecutive years will be awarded a small Revere bowl appropriately inscribed. The Butterfly race is conducted at the Yacht Club, and the trophy is retired by a skipper winning three consecutive races. Funds for engraving and purchase of trophies as needed are provided by the Lynn Trophy Endowment Fund.

The COURSE RECORD TROPHY is awarded to the “E” skipper with the best season time on a race over the original two–triangle course marked by buoys Davock, Baldy, Home, Big Hill, Fairwood, Home. Established in 1948. The all–time record, set in 1966 by Bill Christensen in T–44, is 57:54.

The COMFORT PERPETUAL “E” CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY is awarded to the winner of the season Class “E” Championship. It was donated as a perpetual championship trophy in 1962 by Mr. and Mrs. Hartley B. Comfort.

The LUFFING CUP is a perpetual trophy awarded to the top four finishers of a special race held annually in the Butterfly Class. Donated by the Daily family in 1963.

The TURK PERPETUAL TROPHY race starts at the Club and races to Alden or Eastport, then home. Tradition includes a party by the previous year’s winner before the annual trophy award dinner. The Turk Trophy race started in 1951 and is the final major challenge of the season for the “E’s”.

The LITTLE AMERICA’S CUP is patterned after the America’s Cup Rules. It is sailed as a special challenge series, one man per Butterfly. If there is more than one challenger, then a preliminary series in July determines the final challenger to meet the previous year’s champ. Best of seven determines champion.

The COMMODORE’S CUP REGATTA TROPHY is a first place trophy awarded to the winner of a three race series to be held on a weekend when either the Western Michigan Regatta or Western Michigan E Invitational Regatta is being sailed. This perpetual trophy is in honor of past and future commodores of TLYCC.

The HICKMAN BUTTERFLY TROPHIES are awarded to the winners of the July and August series. They were donated by Charles Hickman in 1972 as perpetual trophies.

The SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES are awarded to the winners of the weekend championship series races held throughout the summer.

The “AT LEAST I WASN’T LAST” PERPETUAL TROPHY is given annually to the skipper who starts in 50% of the races sailed in the women’s series, and whose score is second to last among the scores of those who have also started in 50% or more of the races. Donated by Kay Comfort.

The RUTH DAVOCK BUTTERFLY TROPHY is a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner of the season’s Women’s Butterfly races. The skipper who wins the series for three consecutive years will retire the trophy and a new trophy will be provided.

The HER MAJESTY TROPHY is awarded to the winner of a special race or series of races in the women’s Butterfly. Donated by Helen Mary Powell.

The CRAZY LADY TROPHIES are 1st and 2nd place trophies awarded in the women’s Butterfly fleet for a special race or series of races set by Mames Roth, who donated the trophies.

The BRERETON “E” TROPHIES are awarded to the winners of the July and August “E”series. They were donated by Dr. Robert L. Brereton in 1986.

The SIMONS PERPETUAL TROPHY is a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner of the first “MC” race in August. It was donated in 1987 in memory of Walter J. Simons.

The ANNIVERSARY CUP is awarded to the lady who achieves the highest score from both a written test and a special race. Donated in 1989 by the Truesdells.

The JOHN CHRISTENSEN MC TROPHY, created September 3, 1988, is a perpetual trophy that goes to the winner of a special “MC” race scheduled annually on July 4th and is awarded in honor of a retired sailing member for his “contributions to the Yacht Club safety record and the conduct of the racing program”.

The REGATTA SERIES TROPHY, donated by the Giannestras family, is awarded to the MC skipper winning a three race series sailed from the Club on the weekend of the WYMA Regatta.

The BRERETON REGATTA CHAMPION TROPHY is a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner(s) of any regatta during the year. It was donated by Dr. Robert L. Brereton in 1986.

The W.H. FORGRAVE TROPHY is awarded to the winner of the first MC Championship race of the season. The trophy was first sailed for in 1991 and was donated by Jeff and Linda Hoch.

The LAST CHANCE CUP is awarded to the winner of the last MC Championship race of the season. The cup was first sailed for in 1991 and was donated by Bobby Hurley.

The MOST VALUABLE CREW TROPHY presented by Jeff Hoch each year to the most valuable member of an “E” crew.

The BUTTERFLY REGATTA SERIES, also known as the “Mom Wouldn’t Let Me Go” trophy was established by Pete Comfort in 1995 and is to be sailed for during the annual Western Michigan Regatta by butterfly sailors who are unable (or not allowed) to attend.

The LINDA HOOD MEMORIAL TROPHY is a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner of the first Women’s Butterfly race of the season. It was donated by the Hood family in 1996 in memory of Linda.

The LADY LIBERTY TROPHY is a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner of a special women’s Butterfly race to be held near the 4th of July. It was donated in 2002 by Lisa Powell.

The SHIFTY ANDERSON TROPHY, donated by Ed Anderson in 1999, is awarded to the winner of a light-air, shifty-wind MC Race as determined by the fleet chairman.

The MC MASTERS TROPHY, donated by Craig Hupp in 2000, is awarded to the MC skipper with the best cumulative record for 6 designated MC races in the month of July. Skippers eligible for this trophy must have attained age 45 by July 1.

The MUGGERS CUP, originated in 1939, was awarded to a first time winning E skipper in a championship race. The skipper was then admitted into the “Muggers’ Society” and was entitled to recieve a mug similar to those donated in 1939 through the generosity of Mr. Gordon B. Miller. Today, the Muggers’s Cup has been expanded to include the first time winner of any active championship TLYCC fleet. Muggers’ Cups are provided by the recipient’s family.
